Originally recorded for my 1983 Eagle Records vinyl LP, I always thought it should have a more full arrangement. Finally, after 38 years, I did it.
This song was inspired by the true story of a thirteen year old boy who was murdered by classmates to keep him from exposing their theft of a mini-bike. Quite by accident, he witnessed the Quarterero brothers in the act. They saw him, chased him into the woods, and shoved pebbles down his throat until he suffocated. This happened not far from where I lived at the time. The killers were caught. I read about in the newspaper. The story focused on the mother, who attended every day of the lengthy trial, just looking for some sign of remorse, which never came.
After reading this in the parking lot of the 7-eleven, I went home and wrote this song in less than an hour.
